E Go Better
‘E go better, Nigeria go better’ that phrase have been used way long before I was born. I hope its use will come to an end while I live because a lot of people were born, used that phrase and passed away without anything getting better.
‘E go better’ was probably the second phrase I heard after ‘welcome to the world’.
In a country with no electricity, it was by the grace of God that I was delivered safely at the hospital. The doctors and nurses must have said up NEPA and down NEPA a couple of times at my birth.
From one thing to the other, it’s like from ‘fry pan to fire’ and this makes me ask myself if the citizens will ever be free from the jailer!
From slave trade to military rule, then the adoption of democracy, a new form of enslaving Nigerians. The only difference is they choose their slave masters in the name of election.
The country Nigeria has gone through a lot of hard times which makes it very difficult for many Nigerians to survive. The masses look forward to each election and hope for a change that doesn’t seem to be interested in a country where the only thing changing is the poor getting poorer and the rich getting richer. The poor suffers and the rich live at the expense of the poor.
No basic amenities and the cost of a poor level of education provided by many educational institution is unbearable. It’s like the government use illiteracy as a weapon to punish the people and as a veil to cover their eyes.
Open your eyes Nigeria and wake up from your slumber. You’ve been cheated, abused and ridiculed despite the gifts and resources God has blessed you with.
What is it going to take to find a trustworthy man or woman in Nigeria on whose shoulder good governance can be entrusted?
Will it ever be possible to get God fearing people to guide Nigeria the right way, and put an end to the suffering Nigerians have to go through from birth?
The 8th largest producer of crude oil imports refined gas to the country, yet there are supposed Engineering companies in Nigeria. Of what is their use if Nigeria cannot refine its own oil?
Power to the government, none to the people, well maybe they’ve forgotten that they are meant to serve the people and not the people serve them. The level of corruption is intolerable and this has made life difficult for so many.
Nigerians in and outside Nigeria. ‘E go better’ people pray every day for things to get better but God won’t come down from his throne to come and fix the things we have destroyed with our hands.
Before things can get better we need to get rid of all the bad, bring in good ideas and innovations then work on the good to become better. The next set of leaders need to appreciate the youths and realise they are tomorrow’s leader. The young should be provided with good education and the government should work on improving the standard of living in Nigeria.
There is a lot to be said about Nigeria and how things should be improved but I’m not just going to sit here and say ‘E go better’. I will work hard and spark the minds that will join forces to make Nigeria a better place. God bless Nigeria and God bless you.

This is really emotional for me reading through your insightful fact about Nigeria.
As you’ve said , God will never come down to take control of Nigeria situations as many Christians interceeds in their prayers.
The citizens have to do something to make that country as great as God wanted it to be.

As a person the emotional undertone used here in this article is quite pathetic and disagreeable.
Right now i feel embarrassed by whatever means Nigeria was portrayed here…
Am a proud Nigerian and would like to add that the way in which individuals grow up differ.
if truly yes our democratic rule hasn’t really helped in speeding our development individually we have lived different lives in which we were comfortable.
Yes we want a change, our leaders might be bad..but people out there in leadership are doing a great deal to speed the development…
CHANGE IS CONSTANT AND HAS TO DO WITH YOU AND ME…. ALL OF US BOTH IN DIASPORA AND WITHIN.
9ja is my country I love it and this generation would change it>>>>

Hmmm.. Deep words Tolulope. I never saw it the way you described. I believed the author had intended the writing to be as you described. Hopefully the author will revisit the post to give his point of view. You are not the first to have such an emotional response to this article! Thanks for the comment
